Hunter Guide

Everything you need to know to find your perfect hunt, submit an enquiry, and book with confidence on Hunting Safari.

Getting Started

Getting Started

Welcome to Hunting Safari. As a hunter, you can browse hunting packages from outfitters around the world, submit a hunt enquiry, compare offers, and book your ideal hunt — all in one place.

Step 1 — Create Your Account

Register at huntingsafari.com and select Hunter as your role. Your role determines what you see and what you can do on the platform.

  • Only hunters can submit enquiries and make bookings
  • Your role cannot be changed after registration — contact support if you registered incorrectly
Step 2 — Complete Your Profile

A complete profile helps outfitters understand who you are before they respond. Go to My Account → Profile and fill in:

  • Full name — outfitters address you by name in responses
  • Profile photo — optional but builds trust
  • Country — where you are based
  • Hunting experience — beginner, intermediate, or experienced
  • Bio — a short description of your hunting background and interests
Step 3 — Choose How to Find a Hunt

Hunting Safari gives you two ways to find the right hunt:

Browse Listings

Search the listings directory and book a specific package directly. Best if you already know what you want and when.

Submit an Enquiry

Describe what you are looking for and let outfitters come to you. Best if you are flexible or want to compare multiple offers.

Browsing Hunting Packages

Browsing Hunting Packages

The listings directory lets you search and filter hunting packages from outfitters worldwide.

How to Search
  1. Go to Listings in the navigation
  2. Use the filters to narrow results:
    • Country — where the hunt takes place
    • Species — the animal you want to hunt
    • Hunt type — safari, plains game, dangerous game, bird, etc.
    • Hunting style — rifle, bow, walk-and-stalk, driven hunt, etc.
    • Price range — set a minimum and maximum budget
  3. Click a listing to view full details, photos, and pricing
What to Look for in a Listing
  • Photos — look for photos of the actual hunting area, accommodation, and game
  • What's included — does the price cover accommodation, meals, trophy fees, and transfers?
  • What's not included — international flights, firearms import permits, and gratuity are often extra
  • Reviews — read reviews from other hunters who have used this outfitter
  • Outfitter profile — click the outfitter's name to see their full profile and credentials
  • Availability — check available dates match your plans
Booking a Listing

When you find the right package, click Book Now to make a booking request. You will need to confirm your dates, group size, and any special requirements. The outfitter then confirms or declines your request within 48 hours.

Submitting a Hunt Enquiry

Submitting a Hunt Enquiry

An enquiry lets you describe the hunt you are looking for and receive tailored offers from matching outfitters — without having to search and contact each one individually.

How to Submit an Enquiry
  1. Go to Submit Enquiry in the navigation (you must be logged in as a hunter)
  2. Fill in the enquiry form:
    • Country — where you want to hunt
    • Target species — the animals you are interested in hunting
    • Preferred dates — when you want to travel (month and year)
    • Group size — number of hunters in your party
    • Budget — your total budget range per person (in USD)
    • Experience level — this helps outfitters tailor their response
    • Hunting style — rifle, bow, safari-style, etc.
    • Duration — how many days you want to hunt
    • Additional message — any specific requirements, questions, or preferences
  3. Click Submit Enquiry
What happens next: The system automatically matches your enquiry to outfitters who operate in your country, offer your target species, and fit your group size and budget. Matched outfitters receive a notification and can respond with a tailored offer. Your enquiry is active for 30 days.
Tips for a Good Enquiry
  • Be specific about species — "Cape buffalo" gets better responses than "Africa big five"
  • Give a realistic budget range — outfitters use this to tailor their pricing
  • Mention any special requirements in your message — physical limitations, accommodation preferences, trophy shipping needs
  • State your experience level honestly — it helps outfitters recommend the right hunt

Reviewing Outfitter Responses

Reviewing Outfitter Responses

Once outfitters respond to your enquiry, you can compare their offers side by side and choose the one that best fits your requirements.

Where to See Responses
  1. Go to My Enquiries in the navigation
  2. Click the enquiry to open it
  3. All outfitter responses appear below the enquiry details
What Each Response Contains
  • Can accommodate — whether the outfitter can meet your requirements
  • Message — the outfitter's personalised introduction and pitch
  • Available dates — specific dates they can offer
  • Suggested price — their price for your group and hunt
  • Price includes — what is covered (accommodation, meals, trophy fees, etc.)
  • Package details — full itinerary and what to expect
  • Alternative species — if your target species is unavailable, what alternatives they offer
How to Compare Responses
Compare Total Cost

Look beyond the headline price. Add up what is not included to get a true comparison.

Check Reviews

Click the outfitter's name to read reviews from previous hunters. Recent reviews are most relevant.

Ask Questions

Start a conversation to ask specific questions before committing. Good outfitters respond promptly and thoroughly.

Watch out for: Responses that avoid stating a price, outfitters who only want to communicate outside the platform before you have agreed terms, or prices that seem too good to be true. Use the platform messaging system for all communications until you have a confirmed booking.

Starting a Conversation and Booking

Starting a Conversation & Booking

When you find a response you like, start a conversation to discuss details before booking.

Starting a Conversation
  1. Open the enquiry and find the response you want to follow up on
  2. Click Start Conversation on that outfitter's response
  3. A message thread opens automatically with an introduction message pre-filled for you
  4. Continue the conversation to finalise dates, pricing, and logistics

You can start conversations with more than one outfitter at the same time while you compare options. The enquiry status changes to In Progress once a conversation begins.

Before You Book — Questions to Ask
  • What licences and permits are required and who arranges them?
  • What firearm regulations apply and can you bring your own rifle?
  • What happens if the target animal is not encountered?
  • What is the cancellation and refund policy?
  • Are there any health or fitness requirements for the hunt?
  • How are trophies handled after the hunt — caping, skinning, dipping, and shipping?
  • What is the accommodation like and is it included?
Making a Booking

Once you are satisfied with the outfitter and terms:

  1. Go to their listing (or ask the outfitter to create a listing for your agreed package)
  2. Click Book Now and confirm your details
  3. A deposit may be required to secure your dates
  4. The outfitter confirms within 48 hours and your hunt is scheduled
Booking through the platform protects you. All booking agreements and payments are recorded. If a dispute arises, our support team can review the full communication history.

Messaging

Messaging

All communication with outfitters happens through the platform messaging system. This keeps everything documented and accessible in one place.

Using the Inbox
  • Go to Messages in the navigation to see all your conversations
  • Each conversation is linked to a specific enquiry or booking
  • You receive a notification when an outfitter replies
  • Reply directly in the thread — the outfitter receives a notification immediately
Good Communication Practices
  • Be clear and specific about your requirements — ambiguity leads to misunderstandings
  • Confirm all agreed details in writing on the platform (dates, price, what's included)
  • Respond promptly — outfitters often juggle multiple enquiries and may offer your dates to another hunter
  • Ask about practical logistics early — visas, vaccinations, packing lists, and firearm import
Keep your booking discussion on the platform. It creates a clear record that protects you if any dispute arises after the hunt.

Tips for a Great Hunt

Follow these best practices to get the most out of Hunting Safari.

Be Specific

The more detail in your enquiry, the better the outfitter responses. Species, dates, and budget matter.

Compare Offers

Wait for 2–3 responses before deciding. Compare total cost, what is included, and outfitter reviews.

Leave a Review

After your hunt, leave an honest review. It helps the next hunter and rewards great outfitters.

Plan Early

Premium hunts and peak dates book out months in advance. Submit your enquiry as early as possible.
