About This Hunt

Hunting territory: Namib Desert and Kalahari fringe (Hardap / //Kharas)
Habitat: Arid scrub, gravel plains, dune fringe

A short desert hunt for hunters who want Namibia's iconic arid-country trophies without a full week in camp. Gemsbok and springbok share the same gravel plains and scrub; steenbok adds a rewarding stalk in thicker cover on the dune fringe.

No bushveld species (kudu, hartebeest) — this package is deliberately scoped to one arid habitat so every day is spent in the same terrain.

Typical all-inclusive quote: US$4,500–$5,200 (1×1 hunter, trophy fees included where noted by outfitters). Namib–Kalahari 5-day gemsbok + springbok (+ steenbok) starters at US$4,500–5,200 on published 2026–27 lists; sub-US$4,500 quotes usually drop a species or use guest-house rather than lodge.

Inclusions

Meet and greet on arrival; all road transfers during the hunt; accommodation for the duration of the safari; all meals and house drinks; professional hunter, trackers, and camp staff; trophy fees for species taken as per the agreed package list; field dressing and basic trophy care.

Exclusions

International airfares; domestic charter flights where required; taxidermy, dipping, and shipping of trophies; gratuities; travel insurance; visa fees; rifle or bow hire and ammunition when not bundled in the quote; government hunting permits not listed in the package quote.

Equipment & Requirements

Equipment Provided

4×4 vehicle; PH and tracker; shooting sticks; cool room; basic caping and salting. Camp rifle hire usually offered for plains calibres (.270–.30-06); bow hire on request at some outfitters.

Equipment You Need to Bring

Quality binoculars; sun hat and high-SPF sunscreen; 2–3 litres water capacity; broken-in desert boots. Own rifle optional — hire is the usual choice to skip firearm import and flight logistics.

Physical Requirements

Heat tolerance essential — stalks on open gravel plains and dune fringe scrub. Short climbs on loose footing for steenbok in thicker cover. Able to shoot from sticks in wind.
